 DNA REPLICATION

 

When a cell divides itself, the two resulting daughter cells must have the same genetic material. In order for this to happen, the DNA forms copies of itself. In other words, it replicates or duplicates itself.

This process is known as replication and it is exclusive to DNA. It happens inside the cell´ts nucleus and two daughter molecules are obtained from an initial molecule.

Replication has to be wery precise. If not. The draughter cells would receive different DNA molecules that have diferente genetic information.

The ney molecules are made of two strands. The first is a strand from the original DNA. The second is a complementary new one. Meaning it is identical to the original one. This is why t is said this type of replication in semiconservative.
